Những thao tác đầu tiên sau khi cài đặt Ubuntu 8.04
Bản 8.04 chức năng suspend hoạt động tốt, Startdic không còn bệnh như trên 7.10 (với từ có nghĩa dài không cuộn chuột vào đc).
1. Chọn Repository ở Việt nam
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://www.oss-hcm.gov.vn/ubuntu/ hardy main restricted universe multiverse

2. Để phông chữ ở Ubuntu hiện thị đẹp hơn.
Dùng phông chữ cỡ 8 cho Desktop và làm sắc nét hơn sẽ thư giãn, dễ chịu hơn rất nhiều nhất là khi phải làm việc lâu trên máy tính. (chi tiết)
3. Bộ gõ tiếng Việt

4. Hardy không tự mount phân vùng ntfs
- Thêm vào file /etc/fstab
sudo /gedit /etc/fstab
/dev/sda2 /media/Volume ntfs-3g defaults,locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0
- Cách nhanh hơn là dùng ntfs-config
sudo apt-get install ntfs-config
sudo ntfs-config
5. Thêm một số phần mềm cần dùng:
Flash plugin for firefox, Stardict, Avidemux, Vlc, Drivel (viết blog), gFTP,..
